Catfish...why not a school of Pictus Cats? But if you want a larger type cat...Lima Shovelnose or a Perruno Cat, Channel Cat?

if cichlids and you want monster size ones i suggest getting EMPERORs, PEACKOKs, FONTOSAS, IF you want Catfish I SUGGEST going with a BUMBLE BEE, COMMON SHOVEL HEAD, or a FRESH WATER LION FISH.

emperors cichlids would be a great choice they are the largest cichlids and get 3 feet long.U probaly could only fit one tho.

The tank is 24'' wide and i would like to spend somewhere between 100-150 on fish but i've heard of tfdfish.com so i would like to try that so i wouldnt have to spend so much.
