Hi Everyone!

I'm new to this community. I have a 75 gallon setup running on Fluval Fx5 filter. The problem I'm having is each week I am having to change most of the water in the tank, otherwise, my fish get eye cloud, fin & tail rot, lethargic, and loss of appetite. This has been ongoing for quite sometime now. The tank is stocked with two 6" inch koi, five 3" koi, two 5" plecos, five parrot fish, an medium sized oranda, and three 3" regular goldfish, and a baby turtle. I'm using two bags of Elite carbon, volcanic media rock, and ceramic rings as media. I noticed after continuously running the filter for a month, the sponges remain fairly clean with very little build up. Hagen has recently sent me a new motor & impeller; however, the problem hasn't gone away. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

P.S. I had an O Ring come loose about half a year ago, and I do not know where this peice belongs -- looks similar in size to the O-Rings attached to the intake/outake connectors on the lid.

I wont jump to conclusions yet.

What are your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels?

What method do you use for changing water?

all my nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia levels are safe; I purchased my kois from a petstore that has over 100 "healthy" and very active
koi goldfish in a single 55 gallon tank. how do they do it?

I've actually separated the koi recently from all the other fish -- i have 7 medium sized kois in a 30 gallon bucket running on a fluval 4 (in-tank filter) -- the fish seem to be doing much better in this small environment -- the other fish however, in the 75 gallon running on fluval fx5 continue to show problems -- lethargic, white film on coat, leaning over -- i'm thinking it's the filter -- how often are you suppose to change the sponge that comes with the filter? thanks.

Large filter systems, plus the stock is constantly moving in and out

Seems strange you a reading zero on all tests yet you are still experiencing problems, I suspect it to be filter related, any pictures?

that is a HUGE bioload for a 75 gallon tank...

youve got 18 poop machines and 1 armored poop machine... retest your tank before you do a water change im pretty sure your levels will not be "safe"..
