here he is ... 4ft of the best monitor that i've ever seen .. waited an awfully long time for this ... he's 2 years old hatched dec 03, and about 4ft long ... woohoo!!

I also have an Argus (panoptes hornii) and an ornate nile .. as well as a pair of paraguayan tegus and just bought a pair of timors !!!

Beautiful salvator. Is it a cumingi? It looks like it has some orange in the head neck. Either way, it's awesome.

Wow, sweet collection. I would love to get an argus or one of the species from their complex. You know ornate's are now their own species? Varanus ornatus, not V. niloticus spp. or whatever they used to be. Very nice though. I can't wait til I have to room to keep monitors agian. Lets see some pics of your other guys too!!
 
I don't mean to sound foolish or stupid because I don't know very much about reptiles but would you be able to pick him up like a pet or would he just turn and tear your hand open?

It all depends on the individual monitor. Some species have a reputation of calming down over time, some stay flighty or defensive. It all depends on what kind you get and what species. If they do decide to be pissed at you though, you could be in for some trouble, especially with the larger species.
