New MONSTER Panaque

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wanted to share a small update on the tank and fish.
Ive redone the tank so that the fish has optimal swimming space and the piece of wood that comes in from the surface is softer so he can eat it.

The tank (which is a bit hard to photograph cuz of lighting)

Today was the great for me. Today caused me some headthinkers and some stress on how to act in the best possible way. Today was the day that i would pick up my new monster panaque.
The plan was to trade most of my smaller fish for one big fat one. So after school i got to work:
I lowered the water and took all the wood out. With that, i sucked away a lot of sand and under it a lot of poo and debris. Then i had to catch the plecs. I wanted to get all my plecs out except for the blue eyes, my 2 ornate polyps, a 20 cm royal and my first plec: a gibby.
The result was this (the fish is already in there but had to hurry):

So off to the LFS to make the exchange!

And now im very happy to announce that i have a new pet. It must be the biggest royal ive ever seen with a stunning 43 cm in lenght and 13 cm in width. Its mouth has a diameter of 7 cm!!
I think its a female as it doesnt have a lot of odontones, especially on the fins. There are some spikes growing near the gills and they are about an inch long atm.

Here are some pics of the monster:
