The books are actually really good IMO. But then I read Anne Rice too so I guess thats my thing. The movies are never as good as the books but they make up for it with cute boys and they are entertaining. I'm not running out to watch the midnight showing but I will go see it. It's not meant to be a scary, action vampire thing it's a love story. Which explains why most men wont like it. To each his own

I read the first book and your right it wasn't bad. It definitely keeps you entertained. I've seen the movies...The problem with movies are never as good as books so they dressed up the movie with "cute boys" is that now the movie is totally geared toward young girls. If they had taken a different approach to the movie it could have been sick. It's obvious they weren't trying to capture any male audience, my evidence is the scene in the first movie where edward jumps out of his car and growls at the guys who were going to rape his girl instead of tearing there ******* heads off like a dude, at the least a vampire dude, should/would

You're definitely not. I cant stand this crap. Vampires are designed to represent excess, just look at the people that inspired the myths, Vlad Tepes Dracula and Countess Bathory. It's about sex and violence pure and simple. Yet this Edward prick is an abstinent vegetarian? And he sparkles? Seriously? Lame emo crap.
Yeah i fail to see the recognition of these emo Vamps and the work of Vlad tepes, one impales turkish soldiers and the other impales himself @ turkish bath houses.

The books weren't written like that though and thats what the movies are based on. The first movie was pretty close to the book. Not sure if he would have gotten the girl if he started ripping heads off. This is the difference between women and men. Women generally like romance. Thats what these movies/books give which is why a lot of girls like them.

Rojowe, yes, they are actually shapeshifters however they can shift to the only animal that their ancestors left for them, werewolves. More kids transform into werewolves (not real werewolves as explained in Breaking Dawn) even prematurely depending on the number of vampires present in La Push reservation.

Edit: I should have added that the Quileute tribe transform to werewolves as they are meant to protect their reservation area and humans around their area from vampires that are not "vegetarians" (vampires that drink only animal blood due to conscience) or violate their treaty not to hurt humans or even the tribe itself.

You know your stuff obviously, lol.

How many books are there.

I get what your saying about it being written with romance in mind...I'm just thrown off with the growling and the cheap fight scenes, i do think they did better with the second one but there still aimed at capturing female audiences imo and i think they could have done better by aiming at a general audience, not to say financially there not doing good cause I went to see 2012 and there were 4 different lines with ppl basically camping out in there showtime line ranging from 8pm-11pm

If you haven't seen twilight you should watch it. I laughed so hard, I probably came close to pissing myself.

First thing you have to know if you haven't paid attention to with Twilight and the saga's that come after is it really was written for more of the teenage audience. You go into most any book store before it became so popular and you find it in the in sections that are pushed towards upper teens and younger adults. This book is a science fiction based love story, so most of your average male audience is not going to like it much. I've seen both movies and read the first two books so far and it really isn't bad. In my opinion it's just really cool to see how someone can change their ideas on mythical creatures like that. I would have never made a vampire shimmer, but Stephanie Meyer did and she's made a name for herself also. But I also don't agree with alot of other vampire or werewolf movies either. But will say that for her interpretation the movies and the books were pretty good. I enjoyed them, but heck I watch cartoons too! :)

Think of the frenzy in these terms......CREAM, remember when that was the hot thing on this board and now it is gone. This movie is the same thing in a different format, a fad.

New what????

Naw just kidding, how can you not know what twilight is, it's only on every other commercial and billboard. I was watching the news this morning, and it seems that drug dealers out here have came up with a new way to target teenagers. They now have twilight branded heroin bags on the market.

Anyways, I would much rather see a harry potter movie than twilight. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows 2010 ftw :headbang2

You know Deathly Hallows is going to be in two parts. One in 2010 and then the second part in 2011. I think it should be, there is way too much to explain in a 2ish hour movie. I'm not sitting for 4 hours to watch a damn movie, glad they did htis.

And of course this Twilight series is a fad, everything is. I will glady partake in this fad though.
