New (new to me) 225 gallon set up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As for media, I had to purchase all of it new, it came with the baskets, hoses and everything, just no media......I put the white sponge blocks in the outside perimeters of the baskets.....The top basket has only pre-filter (ceramic rings)....The second has two of the blue course pads that fluval sells, the bottom is full of my old bio stars from my old rena, and a white fluval polishing pad.....I will add more filter material when I clean it next time, this is my first FX5 and I didn't know what it was capable of....I will snap a couple pics, but don't be too hard on me, I have to get a background and a lot more rocks.....Didn't realize how much bigger this was than my 125!

My question is did you use any of the media from your 125 in your new set up? If you could have used a large portion of your bio media in the new filter, would eliminate a cycle. If youre starting completely fresh the tank will have to cycle :nilly:

Just snapped these.....Still needs to clear a bit, I added 50 LBS. of new gravel to the existing gravel.

Yes, I used all my bio stars from my 125, and I moved my large sponge filter from the 125 to this tank......I will remove the sponge filter in a couple weeks.....Just wanted to steal the bacteria!!!!

Great steal.

What are the dimensions ? Looks excellent nice setup.

More fish are on the way...OCA is having a swap meet in two weeks....I am hoping to bring back 50-80 more juvi peacocks and haps.....The dimensions are 72"x24x"30"high, not sure of the stand.
