honestly, i doubt mexico, us, and canada would all share one currency. US and Canada have a chance, but Mexico is way off.
There are many factors working against the "idea" of the Amero.
1. The Euro works because the members of the union all pretty much have the same economies meaning each country has the same types of industry and the combination of each member strengthens the union as a whole. It has been argued that a North American Union would not benefit the same as the European Union becuase of non-autonomous industry and geographic factors.
2. USA national debt is increasing. Canada's is decreasing. If you were Canada would you join bank accounts with a out of control spender with a Mexican in tow?
I'm sure I could think of more but those two were quick to come to mind.

I think people like conspiracy theories because it makes them feel like they are important... whether benevolent or malevolent in nature, people like the idea that someone/something is pulling the strings from above. Also, thinking about conspiracies is a lot more fun than doing something about tangible problems in life.
