Hi, just wondering the best way to waen my NTT off live food.

Ive had him a little over a wk he is patitioned of from the other fish and Ive put in a clay pot as cover.

So far I have only had luck feeding him live Bloodworm although i have offered Earthworms, frozen BW, Prawns and Massivore.

What advice if any can you give me?

Thanks JAY

There are many different approaches to getting dats off of live foods.I have three small indos that are eating Hikari sinking pellets now.I started them off on feeders and then changed over to small pieces of cut up raw shrimp or smelt cuts. These were given a few days after the last feeder was eaten and the pieces of fish was dropped into the tank where they would land near the dats mouths. The dats eventually snapped up the morsels as no more live feeders were added to the tank.Once the dats were taking the food regularly,I started dropping pellets randomly among the other food and they soon took to those as well. They will even take a nightcrawler here and there as I offer it but I suggest you fatten your dats up on whatever it will willingly eat currently before training it to other foods.

Thanks for the info, I have been trying to fatten him up but bloodworm arnt really big meals an its not taking earthworms. He's snapping at the prawns but not swallowing them.
I have an AT which ate massivore straight away he is very greedy just hoping the NTT follows suit.

He's snapping at the prawns so that's a good sign.

I, myself have got a small indo dat just 3 days ago~
The first two days i didn't really try to feed him anything (he was on live food at the store), I guess he just got hungry after the two days and as soon as i put a small piece of prawn inside he took it as soon as he saw it...
I think the only way is to starve it a few days!
I don't know if this is good (dont trust my word :P) but maybe try mix the prawn with some bloodworm juice? maybe that would help...

It took me literally 6 months to get my NTT's to get off live. Pickiest fish I have every owned.

This is a long time so u prob do not my advise but Imma give it to you anyways.

Feed them what they ate til they reached 3-4 inches then I starved them. Eat or die as others put it.

I tried Eat or Die with a Nandus a few yrs ago and it went for the latter lol.
It is bitting at the prawns so thats a start but i want it feeding properly before i introduce it back to the main tank.
