New Ornate Bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your ornate is a pretty decent size so anything less than 2/3 of its body is pretty much fair game especially since ornates are notorious for being aggressive. At least the ones I've kept

My Ornate is obviously interested in my Iridescents, I moved them away. They watch the fish as they swim past and want to eat them, they get ready for a lunge. They only eat live food, they eat little Cyprinids, and not to mention my Iridescents, it now has a bit of interest in my Clown Knife. I have two 8 inch Clowns but one is only about 6 inches, I'm afraid it might get chomped up. My Iridescents are gone, but I think I might replace them with a Peacock Bass. This is gonna bring me to the Pbass forum. But I haven't settled this yet.

Peacocks might work, Jardinis are aggressive, Ornates are, Senegals are quite, Clown Knife are, but Pbass too!

Check out my new signature, If you can't house it, Don't buy it!

I hope my senegal is fine......

My ornate is quite fat, it is constantly looking for fish to eat, it doesn't take small ones, it takes the bigger ones.

theres an edit button where you can add things you forgot instead of posting over and over just so you know haha

Like Awesome said, i wouldnt put anything less then then 10 inches in the tank with that beast, they get pretty aggro after ten inches. I got mine from a buddy who bred them, his snapped at everything. I hope mine doesnt get like that or i may have to sell :/ hes only around 7 inches right now.

Peacock Bass work, top swimming characins like false gar, barracuda, etc work, african arowana i have heard works, if your senegal isnt full grown its in danger. My cousins 8 incher ate a 5 inch senegall. Deathrolled it and everything. be careful w/ tank mates

Wait I forgot to say, my bichir looks like a delhezi but doesn't in some ways because its stripes are very very light and kind of get covered by dots or something then it's fins are dotted. I still wonder if its an ornate or if its a delhezi.

Even if it was a delhezi it's exactly the same as you explained, it's aggressive and large, and it's over the max size of a delhezi at around 16 inches.
