New ornate!!!

I finally found a male ornate! To make the score sweeter, he has thick yellow bands on the pectoral fins with minimal black pigment, something I've been looking for in an ornate. Hopefully I'll have in-tank shots by tonight.

Thanks brutha. It is small, especially compared to my larger endli, polli, and retro, but he's still slightly bigger than the sens.


The total tally is now 17 bichirs:

2 polli, 2 endli, 2 ornate, 2 lap, 5 sen, 1 weeksi, 1 congicus, 1 del, 1 retro

Keep at it and you can build your collection too man. It's taken me 7 months to build this collection up from 1 sb albino sen

The high yellow of the pecs is something I've been chasing after seeing some for sale with that trait in our buy/sell forum. My female has about 4 or 5 black stripes on her pecs and A LOT more pigment/pattern on her head.

I bought him from a small LPS that I rarely stop by called "Happy Dog's Pets", but I was looking for rope fish. I saw this guy by himself and couldn't leave him behind.

Thanks Druu, that was one of the characteristics I was looking for, was lots of pigment on the dorsal fins.
