Laying on their sides or "sulking" seems to be a typical behaviour exhibited in most oscars during stress. They often do this while you are performing maintenance, adding new fish, or adding them to another tank. Sometimes they will just do it for a few minutes and other times a few days, it really depends on the oscar in question and what your doing.

This is a trip! I have never seen anything like this behavior in fish before. It sure makes me thankful that you all have.
When I leave the room for awhile and then come back in she is allover the tank. Once she sees me, she quickly goes to the bottom and lays half on her side as if, this is it!
THIS IS WILD!

I had already called PetSmart and told the guy what the fish was doing and he said it was normal. I told him that I have been raising fish for thirty five years and this was not normal.
Oops I owe him an apology. Who knew?
I have read about the Oscar for years and have wanted one sense I was around 5 or 6. There was a store like a Walmart called Murphy's department store in Fort Worth Texas. When I was a kid they had a small selection of fish. One was a Oscar named Oscar, go figure. Every year they threw him a birthday party and the kids that came got cake, ice creame, and party favors. I was there for 15 years of his parties.
Now I have my own little drama queen.:D

oh god i dont miss those days every oscar iv owned have done this it should be fine in a week or so..

I will be moving her from the Q tank to her new home today. She will be bunking with two 9" Clown Knives and one 4" Gold Gourami.
No pics of them togather yet,
but I do have some new pics of the knives.:arapaimag
