I have a Oscar fish that i purchased from my lfs. He is about 6 inches. Every time i walk near the tank he swims away and hides in the corner. Im wondering if this is normal. The tank is fully cycled. .25 ammonia 0 nitrates 10 nitrites. The tank is running a fluval 406 and an aqueon 55/75 hob. The temp is steady at 78. I have 3 tanks all of them are reading .25 ammonia with the api test kit. I'm using seacham prime dechlorinator. So not sure if its a false reading or not. I've had this fish for 5 days.

+1 my Oscar still pouts anytime I wide the glass or scape algae. The worst is water changes. Takes him a good 15 minutes to realize that i was helping him out...
he seems to be coming around a little bit. Sometimes he will come up to the glass. Sometimes he just looks at me like im going to kill him and go hide in the corner. He is in a 75 gallon (18 inch tank) by himself.
shouldn't read ammonia if the tank is fully cycled, in regards to behaviour; mine was the same, got scared of its shadow and took to lying on the substrate breathing heavily lol.

Regardless, he will come around, they pout as stated above but he'll adjust. If you get transferred between homes randomly I don't think you'd be real happy with your new family immediately haha.
