  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So what happened o your pleco? Did your RD kill it? Could you see it coming and (perhaps) get him out in time or did you just find your pleco dead one day?

RD was probably 7" at the time and the pleco 4-5". the plec hung out on a log for a couple weeks then sean bean(RD) decided to just take him out randomly one night.

I also had a raphael catfish in for a few months with him that i thought was going to work out. But Sean bean tooled him up pretty bad one night too and i was able to rescue him.

Sean bean is a nice looking fish. Do you still have him? How old is he and how big is he now?

Thank you for saying so. I dont think he is the prettiest fish in the world but definitely has the most personality of any fish ive had.

Yeah ive still got him hes over a year old, maybe a year and a half. slowed growing at around 9" but filling out his form. Feeding him blackworm and veggie pellets, earthworms and bloodworms. Hes got a 75 to himself now but an upgrade is in the works down the road.

Welcome to MFK. Good Luck with the Red Devil. I had one some years ago about 16" and he was never an issue for almost a year. Went away one weekend and came home to a massacre. He basically snapped and killed everything. It was an episode of "The First 48"

What they say about a serial killer.
Person 1: your neighbor killed 80 people.
Person 2: what! But he seemed so nice

I feel the same way about Bruce. That is why I bought him when I saw him at the LFS. I had one 37 Years ago. In my youth I had many aquariums and, over the years, have slowly whittled it down to 1 (the one with my 29 year old turtle). I recently redid the turtle tank and caught the bug again , decided to set up another aquarium. So in thinking over the dozens of aquariums and (probably) hundreds of fish I have had, it came to my mind that the coolest fish I ever had was the old RD I had when I was about 16. He had the most personality of any fish ever. When I would walk into the room he would greet me like a puppy trying, with every ounce of his being, to get my attention. He would eat right out of my hand and would make huge piles of gravel at the sides of his aquarium, often leaving the centre bare.....I would flatten it back down and he would have it all dug up again before long. So, when I saw Bruce, he reminded me so much of that old RD, I just had to take him home.

Haha yes sean bean and i have many of the same games. He'll pile all the sand on one side of the tank and gets really worked up when i try to smooth it out.

Hes actually really stepped up his aggression lately. He displays and bangs the glass when the cat gets too close and has learned to attack my hand and not the tube when im vacuuming his sand.

I like that his attitude is such that "you may feed me, pay for my tank and equipment, and give me clean water, but you dare put your filthy human mitts in my 7 cubic ft of water and i will bite you as hard as i can."

My RD is 5? (edit, maybe more like 4? Bought at 3 inches, so IDK), welcome to the forum!

My RD lives with 3 giant danios and 2 rosy-red minnows I dewormed and quarantined out of the feeder tank, lol. She ate one rosy red experimentally (there were 3) but must not like the flavor...

She also did great with her buddy chinese algae eater, but the CAE died in a filter upgrade accident. Stepped away to build an intake cover right after I got it running and the little torpedo shot right into the filter, I couldn't save him.

Oh, and she lives in a plastic "pvc" noodle, ha ha.

I wouldn't put anything with her that I don't expect to see murdered one morning, even though she's been relatively mild for a RD so far.
