New P14 pup and flowrate tips pls.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Rubber net is a good way to move rays...plastic bags are even better, but your more likely to get nailed that way. Do what your comfortable with. Don't risk it if your not comfortable getting in close proximity of your rays. Netting a ray stresses it out big time, but they recover quickly.

Excellent point. A good pair of angling gloves is a great idea as well. You never know when you might have to catch a ray for some reason like a net breaking...

here's my biggest tank. I'm not comnfortable with moving rays , I'm always wary of the stinger :)
i'll fix my drip system on the big tank first.
wish rubber nets were available here.
btw do you guys clip your rays stinger?

thanks, how do you go about cutting the stingers? Use a net to pin them against the glass? :)

For me: Net held above the surface with thick angling gloves holding the tail with a towel and cut. These are strong and quick animals even at a small size so gloves are a must. I've had way too many close calls over the years that gloves pay off.

There is no need to cut the barb of a young ray unless you are concerned about shipping it. I don't cut adults unless I have to and never pups unless shipping it.

thanks :) Was just thinking of cutting if its a simple and easy procedure.
my tank's wall has hard algae and I need to scrape it using a credit card, but worried i might accidentally get stung if they are startled .

but i think i'll just leave their stingers alone.
btw my new ray has an airhose on its stinger, will it be hard to remove? i feel uncomfortable for her looking at it lol .

You bet. I prefer to let them drop when they shed the barb.

Love the activity on that little one in the video. These guys look great by the way. At this size you can limit handling to all but none once you get them settled. The stuff I mention above is way down the road. Enjoy this size, teen pups are the best!
