Clown Knife will outgrow your tank too. I'd stop buying fish for a while & consider all their adult sizes.

The gold clown knife will get big. But there are lots of people keeping them in similar sized tanks so I won't tell you no. Plus I think you got time til over 2ft. Bear in mind it's max size though and have a plan of either eating it or a friend that will take it if it gets too big.
As far as cats. Jaguar cats are cool and small, lima shovelnose would work, possibly even a tigrinuis cat(not TSN but Tigrinus) for a while. Gulper is another cool cat but not if you have anything the same size of it or smaller as it will eat it.

Where do you think you're going to find folks that will buy all those monster fish after they outgrow your tank? Why not just stick with species you can handle for life?
okay and what would you reccomedn because i dont think severums will outgrow my tank correct me if im wrong
i wouldnt think a CK would outgrow a 240G tank...
and a 1000G for a normal ID?? how many fullgrown have you seen in tanks ? they might get to their max size in some huge ponds or show tanks but the max size in nature vs aquarium isnt always the same...
