Just so you know, don't boil the zucchini, it will take out all the nutrients. Raw is best ;)

*nods head vigorously in agreement*

And try watermelon.

They LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!

'yes raw' is best!! but when they are that small(pleco) softer the better easier for them to eat imo.
So once they are bigger and adjust than you can just drop the raw ones in. ;)

Once its been in the tank over night... it'll have softened up IME. They should be able to feed on pretty much anything though... being the nondescript feeders and all...
There are lots of food stuffs to try, have a look in the pleco dietry thread for some ideas!

Sometimes I drop a piece or two of raw zuchinni in the pleco tanks before I go to sleep. They are chewed to oblivion when I wake up and take them out. Surprisingly the fish really love the tough skin too. Lots of bite marks everywhere.

Considering they'll go through wood and can scrape away at sponges and rock, i would imagine a bit of zucchini wouldn't take much doing...

I have noticed that my panaques prefer the skin while the others prefer the softer inside.

Only my commons will eat the whole thing.

One more tip.

Make sure when it comes to the veggies, that you drop it in before you go to bed. If you expect your newbie plec to eat while the house is active, you probably won't have very much success. I've noticed that sometimes it can take many, many, months before they come out to eat during the time the household is awake.:screwy: :(

Yes, the fish will eat more overnight. The zuchini also has time to soften on its own as opposed to boiling the nutrients out of it. Double advantage!

Hello frieds.
I want to tell you, that I shall buy new pardalis tomorow, I hope, that lastly and successfully. Thank you to all, I wil be comming on accordance with yours tips. I have one question another. Some people advised on other (czech) forum, that it is better, when I use some medicament preventively anti - intestinal parasite so as for example Entizol (metronidazol). Is it appropriate solution?

I have plecs that won't come out in the day at all. These are usually males. Night feedings is something i've always done and will continue... but people do have success at other times.
