Update! Wow no problems anymore. He pounces on silversides now as they sink. Today he managed to swallow a silverside that was borderline too large for my 10" Dat! It was 1/3 his weight!

It's impressive that yours will eat dead fish without any training.
My Armatus doesn't eat anything dead, or even dying. If the fish doesn't attempt to swim away, it wouldn't even bite.

Never had the tank to try an Armatus! The fishing line method worked for me! Try it....its like fishing for your fish! (no hooks of course)

Haha, yeah, that does sound like a good idea. Considering his size now, he only eats Silver Sharks, and it ain't cheap. Goes through like 15 of them in a week.

But he does most of the hunting at night though. As soon as I turn of the lights actually. So not really sure how to time "training" him.

I would let him get real hungry! Tats look to be the MOST noctural of the type....look at those giant eyes! All my fish eat at 6:30 am just after the lights come on. My guy begs for food like my Dats! Train your guy to expect food at a certain time....i find the lights to be a good cue.
