New payara's won't eat

So 2 of them have started eating but they only eat 1 minnow each! My baby one is about half their size and he scarfs down 3 or 4 each time. How come they're eating so much less?

Also I just put a koralia thats rated at 850gph in the tank, its a 40g. Is this enough flow, too much or too little?

Payaras can be really finicky eaters.

Do you have lots of current? Dim lighting? A fairly wide, open tank? What are the tankmates?

Payaras can be quite timid and any number of things could cause it to go off of its diet.

The tank is a 40g with an ac110 and koralia 850. The only light is from the ambient light from the window. It's barebottom except for a rock with an overhang. The only tank mates are 4 baby bichirs and 2 hujeta gars and another scomb that I had earlier and is like half the size of the new ones. None of them bother the payara's and are all pretty small compared to them.
