hello i bought some new pbass the other day. they seemed fine the first day and ate a 5 minutes after putting them in the tank. then in the morning when i woke up one was dead and the rest looked like *****. i checked the water and the nitrite was high so i did a water change. the next day nitrite was back at 0 but the fish are still sick and not eating. the ph was 7.4, am 0 nitrite was high but is now 0 and nitrate is ok. what are the correct params ph etc for pbass. Could this have happened because the first day when the nitrite was high or was it because the other water params? it was stupid not to check the water before i got the pbass but i was at the lfs and they had some and their not very common around here so i got a couple of them. once i fix the problem i want to go back and get a couple more and try it again. thanx.

That was my first thought also. That and how big were they? I raise my little pbass at 86 degrees and keep my adults at 82. Anything lower than the low 80s would definitely be too low for baby pbass. In any case, hope you get things worked out and good luck with your pbass.

the temp was around 80 and the pbass are around 1-1 1/2 inches so still pretty small. hope this helps.
