Hey everyone I currently have a 18 month old male bearded dragon and a breeding pair of madagascan dwarf spiny tail iguanas, as well as a grenada redfoot tortoise.
I have kept reptiles for about 7 years now and consider myself to be knowledgable on the husbandry of lizards (not so much snakes). I have also had fish for over 10 years and generally am a fan of exotic animals.

I am considering getting hold of a larger growing lizard something that gets to at least 3 feet. I would prefere something that tames down relatively easy. I don't mind having to spend time with the animal each day to tame it, I just would like to avoid anything that becomes OVERLY aggressive and hard to tame.

I am planning on building a custom enclosure of around 6x3, it is possible for me to do 7x2.5 or something similar, I just can't really stretch too much bigger than that. as for the species I am completely open to suggestions, Monitors, Tegu's various smaller growing iguana species, dragon species or such.

There is a reptile expo coming up in my city in a few months and I would love to research all kinds of species and explore all the possibilities!

May I add that I will be able to get the reptile out for exercise often so its not like it will be confined to the cage.

Maybe a savannah monitor? Water dragon perhaps? Frilled lizards are about as easy as beardies but a whole different type of fun

I've been lead to understand that a tegu would require at least an 8x4 enclosure so that might be out for you. I recently decided not to go that way myself.

Yeah as much as I love the tegu's I would feel slightly cruel for not really being able to provide the giant enclosure. I have been very into the monitor lizards for the last week or so researching, but I'm starting to think that the better route for me would be the water dragon / basilisk route ? I could have an enclosure capable of keeping several together and they would still be able to be handled and well within my budget as I have seen both basilisks and water dragons go for as cheap as 40 bucks in my city.

But I would still like ideas everyone, Just doing some research on those species right now.

What cohab options would I have in a large enclosure? back in europe there was a reptile store that had australian, chinese water dragons and a basilisk cohabbed in a large enclosure
