We get lots of hawks here. I'm a hunter and when I've been turkey hunting I have birds flock around me all of the time when I'm using my mouth calls. I also see alot of vultures when coyote huting. They're not the prettiest birds but when they get close its cool to see them because they're huge. One of the coolest things I've experienced though was this past october when I was turkey hunting. I was trying to call a group of hens back together and a woodpecker was pecking on the tree trunk that I was sitting against about 12" above my head. I get birds to come around me all the time when using my calls. Sometimes I'll get one that lands close to me and starts making a ton of noise in all directions. It almost seems like he/she is warning everyone around that there is something in the area that is not right. Unfortunately I don't carry a camera when I hunt. Then again I take crappy pictures any way. My wife even tells me that I'm probably the worst photographer in the world. But if you learn to use some calls, and blend in to the enviroment to not be seen or smelled. Its amazing to see what kind of wildlife you will run into. Even when I don't get lucky and harvest an animal. I still enjoy getting close to the wildlife. And every time I do I wish that I could share that experience with others.
