the Office living in the now...
Recently I bought 1 NTT a week ago @ 26 bucks and luckily 7 more came in and I had to pick them up @ 27.50 each. They all seem tobe hanging out together. Very cute as babies. All of them are around 2-2.5". They love ghost shrimp and I also feed guppies. I know I need to start training them and myself not to give them live food in the future. Photo's to come.

at this size they should go for bloodworms also (hikari frozen will reduce chances of getting IP)...GL
.... pics...

I would stay away from live feeders and just give them bloodworms.. Also at this early, I would try Market Shrimp(small pieces).

Cool, can't wait to see pic's.

Thanks for the tips. I have to try market shrimp. So far blood worms get no reaction... here is a vid of afew dats.. Its hard to get them all on the same screen. Skittish little fishies. The Datnoid that I zoom in on the most is named "Stripes". He is my first dat and my favorite one.

Its been really hard but I have starved the whole tank for 2 days today.

When its time to feed, I will try Market Prawns for the baby dats. I hope they will take it. :ROFL:The rest of the tank is starving also:popcorn:. Mean I know but this is how I am training them.

mines are like that too now, they are hiding and i'm trying to get them to eat the frozen brines...

but that black sand looks good! makes me want to redo my substrate!

does the black sand change the colors on your fish?

Well these fish I have now are all new to me. Except for certain pleco's and the yellow tail cuda's.

The black sand makes my stable dat, Bichirs and everything look great. I have been told that my Geophagus would be mmore colorful in lighter sand. I will see in my next set up.

*As for my datnoids, I have a question for Datnoid experts.

*Should I remove my Datnoids so they can get a chance to eat? All my other fish that are not shy steal the food so fast. I tried market prawns earlier and the Dats seemed interested but no attacks on it.

Then I tried live black trout worms and they are very close to eating them but no cigar. Ever since the 1000 guppies were aten (1 week ago) and my ghost shrimp are all gone, all of my dats have been starving. They still have a decent stomach on them though from all those guppies.

At this size I wouldn't starve them more than a week......
If you have the room do it.
Ivan posted a excellent thread on Aquatic Predators about breaking dats off live food.
