New pick up Albino Turtle! Update every week :D

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You need to get him a better pond, the rocky environment there will cause abrasions and sores which could lead to nasty infections and shell rot. I would suggest keeping him inside until you have a better pond for him with several inches of sand at the bottom and no rocks for him to get stuck under and drown.

Yeah, I am keeping them inside now because we are doing improvements to the pond, I am adding sand in the little tunnel and keeping the big, hallow rocks, the small rocks are going to stay for 6 weeks just until the fish eggs hatch and we can move them in a tank for feeders, I think they are koi or carp :)
Thanks for the advice btw :)

Even with rocks removed I fail to see any advantage in keeping an albino softshell outside. Also I have a hard time figuring why you would subject your turtle to that "walk" outside.

I didn't let it walk, it was for the video to show the new turtle. Am advantage is that it won't get stunted due to small tank, why wouldn't you keep an animal in a
Pond?

Properly maintained animals will not stunt in tanks, because you upgrade them as the animal grows.

Poor expensive turtle had to go and fall off the equivalent of a cliff. He's better off in an aquarium with sand.

Nice, just curious why do you want him to bite you?

The pond is yet to be finished, I understand that now but I am 'smoothing' the edges so they are sloes but putting sand in the tunnel. They are in a tank now :)

albinos get sunburn and often go blind over time when exposed to sun because they lack the pigments that would normally protect their eyes and skin from the suns rays.

if you're going to keep it in a pond, i suggest you use a rubber liner (soft on the turtle) and build it in a shady area; like under trees or up against your house, avoid as much direct sunlight as possible.

edit: also, keep it inside in a tank until it gets some good size to it, otherwise it'll get eaten very quickly by birds, cats, foxes, etc...

so they're in a tank in the tunnel outside? that's like serving them up on a platter. just bring them inside, what's the big deal?

you're building them a new pond with a liner and out of direct sun, correct? because they will die in that rock pit. it's too shallow to get away from predators and the rocks will carve them up.

i'm not trying to preach, i'd just hate to see you lose such a cool turtle when it can be easily prevented.
