Hey just redid my tank. Still curing some driftwood but in the mean time went to go pick up a gar today. I'm hoping its a florida gar maybe someone can ID it for me. Its about 11" and is swimming about now after 30 minutes of dripping it. Cost me about a little under $9USD

Excuse the bad pics

god i've been looking at primitivefish.com and looking at the pics. I seriously hope its not an ali gar. I've seen ali gar's for sale here and there snouts were a lot wider. Anybody? PLEASE?

I'm not sure what it is, but it does look nice! I don't think it looks like the gator gars that I've seen, but I'm no expert. Does it have 2 rows of teeth?

Thanks rally, I can't really see if he's got two rows of teeth his teeth are a little too small to see right now.

Loubard: Are you sure its a spotted? Doesn't look like the spotted gars on primitive fish. They have a dark stripe through their eye.

very nice :) its either a florida or a spotted, but i'm not expert enough to tell which one. florida is a lot more commonly available, at least in the US, not sure about elsewhere...

fyi all gars have two rows of teeth in upper jaw, if one knows what to look for. thing is the Atractosteus species (gator, tropical, cuban) have two *prominent* rows...

Like Inflblue said, it could also be a florida, but this one appears like a spotted to me because of the pattern. Doesn't really matter though, florida and spotted have pretty much the same requirements.
