Now that my arowana is clear of the dreaded ich I can go back to building my ca/sa tank... picked these guys up at petco for 0.75 a piece (their lack of knowledge is sometimes a good thing) p.s. does any one have a success story of keeping these guys with slightly larger o's?

Good pick up looks like you have a male and a female

I've seen people keep JDs with oscars dozens of times so it should be fine

How do people get these kinds of deals at Petco ? do you just find fish that they don't know what they are and make an offer on them ?

Nah I work at home during the week and keep my kids (all three of them under 5) and then on the weekends I set out to almost derail the large local LFS's . The poor kid working that department prolly has a hangover and no clue about aquaria.:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2 Score one for the good guys FINALLY!
 
how can you tell if its a male/female? i bought 4 small jd's at petsmart hoping i have a pair and i dunno how to sex them.

I keep my 5 inch Oscar with my 3 inch JD, they get along fine, Occasionally the Oscar will chase the JD but so far nothing serious at all
