How did you know the roofing liner was fish safe?

EPDM is EPDM pond retailers depend on their redickulas markups to cover there expenses. I just went straight to the wholesaler. Lots of ppl use roofing liners for ponds because of the cheaper price

I had a hunch that was it.

awesome fish! Good info on the liner as well! I'll have to keep it in mind!

Yah I saw firestones site, they make some amazing liners.

Sense I have gotten him I am noticing an odd behavior. I will cut up shrimp or tilipia into smaller chunks for him which he sucks up into his mouth than spits it out, and repeats this dozens of times per piece. Sometime in the end he will eat it other times he just moves on to a new one....is this normal? I know he can eat it cause ive seen him inhale some of the smaller whole shrimp. I just don't get why he sucks em up than spits them out so much

yes I think it is normal. Mine will not eat shrimp or tilapia. He does the same, sucks them up and spits them out. He will only eat pellets and a little beefheart.

here is the diet info from seriously fish

An omnivorous detrivore. Wild fish consume anything edible they find as they sift through the substrate, although a large proportion of the diet is composed of benthic crustaceans and the larval forms of various insects. Will accept most aquarium foods. Ensure vegetable matter and live or frozen foods form a regular part of the diet.

I feed mine hikari staple pellets, massivore pellets, algae and spirulina wafers, as well as shrimp pellets.
