Hii everyone, I just got these 2 little guys off a trade with my lfs, I thought they were interesting and thought that they might have some potential so I grabbed them.
Only thing is i don't really know what they are, I was just told they were texas cross, I was thinking they were crossed vieja synspilum, just from the body shape, but the guy thinks its something else, but he doesn't know either, anyone have some idea?

thanks comments welcome

maybe tex and GT dont know if thats possible? or it could be a failed attempt to get a red texas....so possible devil or midas mix

it look like a vieja synspilumXtexas cichlid.

It's crossed with some kind of vieja it almost looks like it's crossed with a regani or fenestratus or something. Make sure you check out all the herichthys species too because there are a lot of them that people automatically assume texas hybrid and it's just another type of herichthys. The one you have does look to be a hybrid to me though.

I'm thinking it may be crosed with zonatum?

Thanks everyone, Yeah I thought they were interesting as well. I guess
i'm going to go with vieja x texas. Its what I first thought anyway...

What do you guys think?? I don't know if I want to keep them now.. I like them and all, but I saw more potential when they were in my lfs and I was hoping they were going to color up in my tank at home, but they're kinda just grey, with nice pearling, especially on the face. They have great fins and great little personalities.. they're going to be mean, I see them size up some of my cichlids 3 times their size.

But I was just looking for something more colorful. Am I just being to impatient?? Does anyone think I should just wait it out? Like does anyone see future potential??
I know vieja don't show their true potential till they get bigger, so if these really are vieja cross then their might be a chance, but I don't know..

Do you guys think they're worth growing out??
