thanks, they took some cichlid pellets yesterday and today they ate food sticks. i think that they have not eatten for a while because the tank they were in was not set up for them. they were with a 20" tsn. the tsn was a good telling sign that they have been without food for a while or just fed very little. the cat doesn't have any shoulders at all. unheard off in big cats under a proper diet. if that tsn was not getting much food i don't think the gars were getting any with the cat for competition. i think they would have eatten captin crunch if i dropped it in there.
surprisingly there has not been any aggression from the other gars when i put the shortnose in there was a little and the smaller florida had an initiation. i like that, but i expected something.
i am looking to add some trops, cuban, and gators to this mix.
Nice looking LNG's you got there. I wouldn't worry about them looking to thin, I don't think I have ever seen an overweight LNG and from your later pictures they nice and healthy.
In my experience, they are the least aggressive of the gar species.
thanks, i was worried about my florida or shortnose giving the longnoses. my florida and shortnose always rub on eachother and chase eachother around the tank from time to time. not sure what that behavior means, but they don't bite or anything.
thats one way to put it. i have had a long on going string of bad luck, with little perks like this to keep me going. between lights catching on fire to heating problems to fish just outright killing/eating each other at random. things like the longnose, the shortnose, african aro and all the other things i have found fish wise have been a nice change from the usual.
thanks steve, been working on it, just a few more to go. i just wish i could add aisan aros into it. sr's and rtg's are my top aros and i can't have any.
