So I added a 5th crenicichla to my collection last night, a huge 12" male xingu 1. Hes about as thick as my arm, and a mean sob. Hes in a 75 gallon right now until I can play some musical chairs with some of my fish and put him in my 125. I now have more crenicichla then cichla, o well, these pikes are just so cool!

here are the pics:

Sweeeeeeeeet. Great pick up bro! Xingus are awesome, and you've got a huge one. What other Creni's you got besides those two, if you dont mind me asking? That Xingu's got some crazy red finnage.

I have two xingu 1's, and 3 others that id like ID's for.

This was the first pike i ever bought and ive had him for about a year now. Hes about 10" dont know what kind tho:

Hope someone ID's 'em for you! I'm not very good in ID's as Im just gettin started with pikes, getting a Cincta pretty soon here. :D

first 2 of the "sp" look like bellycrawlers and the bottom 2 look like sveni.

not sure about the red pike, possibly a nice johanni? (shot in the dark i really haven't a clue)

That male is off the hook!! Proof that both sexs look great as adults...;)

Did your smaller xingu I ever look orange? Almost looks like it might actually be xingu II...;). COol beans man!!!

Second pike looks like Crenicichla sp. 'atabapo red'...;). Very cool pikes.

Second is Crenicichla sp. 'belly crawler'...very cool pikes. Get it out of the tank with that RTC though, thats only askin for it to get eaten.

The last pike is throwing me off though, the first picture of it almost looks like Crenicichla cincta..but the second one is like lucius/sveni...lol. Interesting....

You've gotta be kidding! I was thinking atabapo aswell, but I didnt want to say anything and give him the wrong idea, seeing as I'm just getting into pikes.

yeah thats what I have been thinking it is for a while (atabapo) I really need to transfer him into a different tank where the background istn black, see if his color changes any.

The small xingu 1 was BRIGHT orange when i got him, but his color has faded, and has started getting spots on his head like a strigata haha.

And that rtc is gonna be moved very quickly, thats only a 10 gallon tank, and ive got a rtc, 2 pikes, and a indo dat in there haha.

If both pikes came from the same store, and the same tank, then Crenicichla sveni would be the best guess. Aren't sp. belly crawler from Colombia? As are Sveni? ;) I've often seen them mixed together as imports.
