Wow was looking at youtube videos of polys and boy there is a lot out there. New to owning them and I'm already thinking about an ornate, endli, and del. His tankmates are black angelfish, synodontis featherfin 6", and a 3" silver arrowana.

They are very addicting. Once you start collecting you will want to "Catch em all, gotta catch em all".
I started with a Delhezi early last year, and now I have a Senegal, Endlicheri, and just bought an Ornate.

To be honest, if you want to collect some of the larger Bichir species, I wouldn't keep them with a juvenile albino.
You will likely discover that a large species of Bichir will grow much faster than the albino and end up consuming it.

Feel free to dabble with the Delhezi and Senegalus along with Mokelembembe and possibly even a Weeksii (if you are looking to go for a potentially tolerable larger species).

I currently house my Bichirs in a 135gallon (US) and they are growing FAST, so if you do go for numerous larger species, understand that an upgrade will be in order after a few years.

Anyways, enjoy the new tank mate! He looks great!

Thanks Murrayjane, I'm already deciding between the ornate or the delhezi. I like the endlicheri but i know that one gets too big for my tank.

I'm not noticing a slow growth rate with my albino senegals.when I Got mine they were under two inches about two months ago and the one is now about 3 and the other is closer to 4.5 inches

Just want to say, you have a terrific looking Managuense pair.

Back on topic, if an Endlicheri is what you really want, then I suggest you get one. An Ornate Bichir at their adult size won't be significantly smaller than an adult Endli and realistically speaking, by the time either reaches their potential, a 125 gallon will likely be too small.

The choice between the two should really be based on whether the lower jaw of the Endlicheri plays a factor and concern for any smaller tank mates. They are true monsters when it comes to eating. The Ornate, from what I hear, is the more aggressive of Polyps, but usually towards other Ornates. The Ornate shouldn't be as big of a 'threat' overall (depending on what you keep with it).

I love my Endli though. Thus far he hasn't caused me any grief. I just make sure keep him very well fed. He likes to bury his head partially under the sand and often just stares at me. When its feeding time, its remarkable to see the size of prepared frozen fish he is able to consume.

The Ornate is still to small for me to give you a personal opinion, but I must say his colors are absolutely stunning even at 2.5".

The choice is yours! Best case scenario is to get both and plan to upgrade to a 180+ within the next 2-3 years.

The other option is to get the Delhezi. You will likely face zero problems and have a very nice, good looking Bichir.

My Senegal and Delhezi have paired and as my girlfriend states, they make an "adorable" couple.

Thanks I think the delhezi is probably the best choice as I don't want my albino to be eaten. Oh about that pair of jags, My friend kept bugging me to sell them to him so eventually I gave in.

Yeah I think Delhezi is the best choice. Maybe get other species once the Albino and Delhezi have grown a bit.

At least you sold your pair to a friend, you can still go and see them :)

Waiting on my lfs new shipment this Friday to see if they have a very small delhezi, if not then I'm thinking about ordering one from Aquabid.
