My lfs has a little one of these in stock, first one I've seen in person. They're great looking fish!

I know they get up to 10".
How big do their mouths get? Or, what's the smallest fish that would theoretically be ok with them.

I've got a 150 gallon with plecos, a couple striped raphael, too many geos, a couple severum, a few other things I'm probably forgetting and a lot of emperor tetra.
Safe to assume the tetras would amp get picked off or do the Jaguars stick to the bottom?

I'd think if something fits in their mouth, the size of which you can judge for yourself, it is definitely at risk and probably will be eaten sooner or later. In nature these catfish appear strictly nocturnal and hunt all over the place using their catfish barbels to their advantage over the diurnal prey.

Not the greatest pics but that little one looks like it may be a morrowi (spelling may be off) or a false jag, which seem to be rarer right now lol. As for the big one definitely a gorgeous specimen with the pattern nice and broken up

Yeah they are always hiding. The do look different from the big one I just got, looks like spotting I was thinking they were the other kind of cat but I’m no expert. I’ll post pics when I change tanks around and they come out lol I’ve had them for a month or 2 now.

kno4te kno4te has one. Don't thinks there is any real difference in care

Yea it’s a false jag cat and a regular jag catfish. No difference in care. Slow growing. Will eat any prepared food and not fussy. Yea only see mine when the lights go out.
