Thats a good idea, I used those lite covers for a lot of things but I would have never thought about using them for tank dividers.

Plexi glass was always too expensive and fradgile for me. I made a top to my 90 out of plexiglass to make it a sort of 1/2 land 1/2 water tank for a change of pace, but it warped and was nothing but trouble. But then again I didn't really have the right tools.

I am thinking about learning about acryllic though, wich is even more expensive then plexiglass, but I have a design for a new wet dry filter that I want to make.
