I don't think that's a black belt...they tend to have one spot on the caudal peduncle not the lateral bar like that fish has.

It was on the list as Vieja Maculicauda - Any thoughts of what it could be then?

Ps. Added black sand to the tank they are in. Looks pimp, and theire colors are showing much better

Most other Veija sp. look really similar when young. You'll have to grow it out and see.

The fry you see in the middle are Mayans i have bred myself from my F0 pair, that i sold a week ago.

I have never kept Dovii's before so i wouldn't know what they usually look like

Here are some of my Costa Rican when they were around 1" and my Nics look identical to these at the same size. They just look a little different.
