New pics of my 90Gallon!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks. I'll try to get more shots of the GT for all of you. Should I put them into a new post or continue with this one?

LFS in Auburn NY where I bought it told me friday that they'd recommend filling the open area on the right side with plants or something. They said it allows the fish to be vulnerable so others can sneak up on them and nail em. I don't really see much agression beyond bluffing. The FM and LG mouth dont get along too well but the Bass will be gone in a few weeks anyway. The GT and JD are fine until the GT rivals her in size. Then it might get testy but i'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I'd actually like to see the GT in charge in the end cause I wana see that hump get huge :headbang2 :headbang2

What do you think of adding one more large piece of wood to that area? I'd like to stay with wood rather than plants because I can stack it a million different ways when I do my waterchanges.

Other suggestions??

nice set up

headrush, nice tank! when you say releasing the large mouth and the sunfish what do you mean? back into the waterways? or you own pond?

I caught them both last fall by accident. I had a minnow trap in a stream around the corner at a buddy's place and caught them both at around 1-2" tops. the stream is actually the overflow for three spring fed ponds upstream about 1/2 mile or so. The thing is, they're used to 80 degree water now in my tank, and unless I let them go in the ponds, I'm afraid the water in the stream might shock them too bad and they'll die.

So to answer your question... I was planning on letting them both go in the Erie Canal which is within a mile of my house. I was fishing in there last weekend, and the stream actually dumps into it anyway. it's a lot warmer in there probably near 70-75 degrees now with all the warm weather. If I float them for 15-20 minutes they'll take it ok I'd think.

By no means would I even think about releasing a non-native species in local waters. Bass and sunfush are comon around here and I catch them in the canal all the time. Also thought it'd be a good idea to lower the bio load as I'm about to add 2 YOYO loaches that are growing up in my 30 gallon.
