looks kinda like Brachyhypopomus pinnicaudatus,i think its part of the hypopomide species of the gymotiformes, tiger knifes (gymnotus tigre) are a bit darker and have a fairly elongated face, dunno if its definately a pinnicaudatus but it realy looks like a brachyhypopomus.hope this helps.

you would have to come up with the longest name possible :D I think you are closer then i have been since the beginning.. i really truly believe after looking at what little info i can find that he is definitly in the hypopomide family or species.. they all have that long lean body with long thin tail..and are on the shy side.. you do not happen to have a picture of the brachypopomus pinnicaudatus do you.. how did you narrow it down?? well i am going to try and find info on this one and i will let you know what i find..thank you!!!!;)

I just found a pic of the Brachyhypopomus pinnicaudatus.. and i 'll be darn..it sure looks alot like it.. :nilly: :nilly: what do you think???????:nilly: :nilly:

I found the two head shots of it too .. so you can see what you think..:) also read..they have very tiny mouths ... long tails used to excite females.. so males have much longer tails{mine is probably male} if something eats their tail off they grow it back... :D very exciting to have a lead :headbang2 :headbang2 :grinno:

yeah, now that i have a better view oh it. the extended anal fin doesn't go nto the end of the tall. The carapoes tail matchs the analfin. the most of tail that the carapo with have is a centemeter, but yiours looks like most of its legnth lie just in the tail.:D it is cool
