new pike cichlid!

i just picked up my new pike cichlid saturday and hes great. he started devouring feeder guppies a couple hours after introduced to the tank. hes still a little stressed and pretty shy but is doing great ive been trying to find one of these guys for awhile and had almost given uo when i found the greatest lfs ive ever been in. not only did they have like 10 pikes but they had them for a pretty good deal. im going back tuesday or wednesday to pick up a tank mate. probably a slightly smaller bowfin or mabe an arowana. cant decide haha. ill try to get some good pics of him later. :D
 
Congrats! Pikes are the shizz eh?! Totally awesome, personable, and full of appetite. Gotta love em! Get some pictures up asap so we can help you confirm ID at least! Good to know what you have hey?
 
my camera died just before i could snap a shot lol. im thinking Crenicichla alta but im not the best with id. but hes green with a red belly and a dark stripe running from lips all the way back and a dark circle on the tail fin. theres also blobs off black along the stripe outlined in a dark goldish color. since ive put him in the tank ive only seen him show his full color once while he was sleeping an hour ago. hope he starts showin more cuz hes a beautiful fish
 
Where in Ohio are you located - I'm interested in the LFS you are referring to...
 
the lfs is in akron and it was called two turtles pet supplies i believe. its about 35 mins from me in uniontown. great store with very nice and knoledgeable employees
 
heres a pic from my cell phone. hes not showing any color. is there any way to get him to start showing all his color? would more greenery help?

i had 1 like that but it had red shades on it most aggressive thing ever anything that touched the water was gone
