Can anyone tell me how to set notificatons to get email when there is a post to this thread?

Click on the "Thread Tools" drop down in the upper right hand corner of this thread and click on "Subscribe to this thread." Then select instant notification from the dropdown options. I think that should do it.

Cool Fish.

Hey George
Those are photos of male Cr. sedentaria.
The common pike called Cr. sp. 'yellow belly crawler' that comes from Colombia has been called 'sedentaria' incorrectly over the years.

I imported Peruvian sedentaria a few times several years ago. I can find photos I took of a female. Guess I didn't take any photos of male or didn't save them.

It's interesting your pics show that dorsal spot. As many times as I looked at my pics, I was squinting for dorsal spots, and did not see any.

My eye says it is close to the C. reticulatus (I think) you have on your site?

g

The dorsal spot appears only on females of both retic and seden.
I will post photos of retic you mention below so anyone interested can compare.

Jeff, what makes you say George's pics are seden and not retic? Just curious how you came to that decision.

Provided that my photos are an accurate representation of species Cr. reticulatus and Cr. sedentaria, I will offer the reasoning to my opinion.
In the species reticulatus, I notice that the dark vertical bars tend to blend into one another when combined with the blotched/nearly complete horizonal stripe.
I included photos of retic individuals above that were taken shortly after introduction to their tanks on the night I imported them. Their pattern was that of 'fright pattern' - similar to the conditions > pattern exhibited in photos George posted originally.
Here are recent photos of same reticulatus pikes as posted earlier

As mentioned, if I've correctly identified sedentaria as pictured in the earlier post, you may see that while superficially, the vertical bars are more faint, they are still distinctly separated and not joined by a thick, darker horizontal bar.

Additionally, I am pretty sure that I was provided with a photo some years ago by a Peru shipper that was very similar to that which George posted. Upon importation, I believe the pike I saw in photo turned out to be the ones I photographed and that I determined to be sedentaria.
Hopefully we'll see these show up and have some better understanding of them.
