New piranha from aquascape

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well I already put in his first dose of meds (1 Tsp for every 10 gallons). Hes in a 55 right now.
I will add salt right now. How much salt do I use? Is regular iodized table salt fine?

Ok thank you, and last question. I actually received the sanchezi piranha this morning at around 9 am. I tried feeding him a couple times today but I got nothing.

Is he just stressed? Or is this "illness/problem" keeping him from eating?

Stress-Totally normal-Could take days to weeks before it will eat-
Keep trying daily-Remove any uneaten food shortly after-Most people leave food in for hours-Myself-I tend to leave it in for minutes---

How big is fish?
If small multiple feeding daily will be required..Bigger-Sub Adult should be feed daily-Adult should be fed maybe twice weekly...Just watch the fat build up towards dorsal.....

He's about 4 inches long but reaaaal skinny. I'm afraid if he doesn't get food in him soon, he could die. I'm no expert by any means, but I can see the bones on the bottom of him sticking out of the skin...I'm worried.

But hopefully the salt and meds work and he will discontinue the stress and gain his appetite back.

I promise a Piranha will not starve itself to death.....As long as no parasite is involved anyhow.....It will eat----

Like I said it's normal to recieve a piranha in that condition-Just give him time to settle and adjust to new tank..Turn lights off-Dont interact with him for a few hours....Make room a bit dark and let him be-He will slowly adjust-Maybe tomarrow introduce him to soem tank lights for a few hours daily until he gets settled in and then the lights can go on as normal...etc,etc....it will all help him settle in and make him feel like home-Then the appitite will coem around

Alright thank you so much for your help. That goes for everyone else. I was worried as hell.
