The acute is tiny!!! I think I'm going to get a dwarf pike for my dorm room next year. These pics make for great references for my sculptures!!! There are so many beautiful pikes out there that I can't decids which one to sculpt first!
!!! They are great fish!!! They are indeed one of the more aggressive of the Crenicichla, but really no more aggressive than most SA/CA cichlids in comparison. Get them small if possible and grow them up with your other fish. Generally though unless they feel threatened by the fish they will normally leave them alone. They do get LARGE though, with 16" + being fairly common.
I've had him with these small fish for about two weeks now. Still trying to set up the other tanks. I'm going to keep some of them in there with him, but the more delicate fish and other pikes will be removed.
HIGHLY recommend them! They are some of the most attractive of the pikes. The one I have is a male, I am hoping I can find a female, as they are generally much more attractive! Plus pikes look best when kept in pairs. At least thats my opinion.
