New Planiceps pics........

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
John ships around the world so I would definitely contact him and find out. Go contact him, tell him Mike sent you :)

Figured I'd add a few pics of mine that I just got from John as well as the 20" one I had a few months ago that I lost during the move. One is about 3-4" and the other is about 1".

FYI before I get to that...you had better move that red tail catfish out of the same tank as that planiceps or you'll have an expensive planiceps feeder in less than a week probably. That red tail won't hesitate to eat something half its size length wise and maybe 1/3 its body mass trust me. That being said...the planiceps in the community should be interesting...hope they don't want to keep any of those community fish because it will start taking them out left and right when its 4-5" for sure; also hope they maintain the water quality really well with in that tank since this is one of the most water sensative catfish I've kept personally even more so than tigrinus in my experience. Just trying to save you some heartache with these guys :) ~Trent

Thanks for the Info Trent  I also hear they like slightly acidic water also, All my tanks are 7.0 or higher :( The baby RTC will be moved soon. He's gonna grow much quicker I can see that already.

Good luck with yours.

Thanks again...........

No problem, glad to see another member join the planiceps ranks :) Yeah a little acidic water is typical of most of the fish out of south america 6.5-7 is a good range. Consistency in your pH is way more important than the proper pH though definately. If you do decide to lower it some seachem makes a good ph reducer and using malaysian driftwood lowers it as well. Looking good and keep us updated with pics bro ~Trent
