As for this thread, Deadeye is probably correct. When my school of neons was wiped out from it, they often died during times when I was not home. That, rather unfortunately, allowed the surviving neons to eat their dead schoolmate and catch the disease.
Although that's not to say it can't be transferred even if the affected fish is separated and euthanized, the affected fish being eaten definitely spreads the disease.

I did not know about the main transmission via eating the dead ones. Good to know. However, I am now more worried than before, but I guess it is what it is!
