im not a fan of wood in my tanks
i will add more if needed but since i put the wood in till now he has not been on there, all the fur and bits are all on there, not touched by a plec
lol id be kinda gutted if i bought that and didnt like wood... lol
its not so much the bacteria from the wood, its the bacteria in the stomach that needs the lignin, which is a chemical compound found in cell walls etc. it doesnt degrade easily, but plecos still need a good supply. they also gnaw their teeth down aswell as the wood fibres add to their roughage intake. its really important to panaques, which is one of the more specialised wood eaters.
