dont see the point...seems like a lot more hassle, plus if money is the reason it would be cheaper and more sensible to fiberglass the ply than buy a complete acrylic tank, then cover up 3 sides of it. plus the success rate of using the conventional method is great
 
I got lucky, they will be in my area next month so if I can make this work then I only pay $70 for them to bring it over and I go pick up, just about 30-40 miles away
 
how much overlap do I need between the window and the frame?
 
I plan on building my next tank with plywood so thanks for all the good info on this thread. I plan on having 2 views on it though. My next ray tank.

in which case, my window will have to be 76"x28" in order to have a 72"x24" opening for viewing.
will 0.5" still be ok? or I should really go with 3/4"? if 0.5" will work then I can go starfire glass, if not then I have to use regular plated glass. (big price difference due to the difference in thickness
