im looking to get a new setup, rod and real, but i dont know what to get. can you guys make some suggestions. i mostly fist for bass (sm and lm), bluegill, perch, carp and northern pike, all are about 1-6lbs and its ether in a pond or a lake, not really catching anything huge. im looking to spend a max of 150$ but i can afford to go a little higher. thanks

also, i the baits i most use are spinner baits and soft plastics, and rarly ill use a crank bait

ok well after searching some other forums i think im leaning twards the shimano sahara for a reel. but im not sure on a rod yet

get a casting reel and a plug rod. theres some good ones for the price range your looking for. i use a 50-75$ rod/reel and that works great for me. i catch large bass and pbass on it.

ps: since you fish in a pond/ lake, look for a reel that has xtra smooth casting and a medium action rod.

Ugly stick.

just about any 6'6'' medium action rod is aways a good all around choice. my favorite reel is the shimano curado. you can get the green ones off of ebay for about $100. i have bought several from ebay and have never had a problem.

well for what your fishing, i'd do, a lower-medium quality st croix, 6' 6" rod,
if you fish baitcast, then i'd say get an older bantam curado off ebay, there cheaper than the new ones and do the job as well, i got 4 for $200.
