the red is possibly a bacterial infection (maracyn-2 should work)
for future reference get a 10 gallon tank and save it as a quarantine tank its far cheaper to treat 10 gallons of water than 72 gallons.
what kind of pleco?
for the fish you listed you'll need either several big tanks or eliminate some of the fish-Anne

the sore is not raised from what i can see, its just a bit white then the rest of the body and its just outlined in red. but it's a BIG sore... it takes up about 1/half of his side.........

so maracyn-2 should work????? do most LFS's carry it???

if my LFS does not have it whats the second best choice????

Birchirs need places to hide and will get very stressed if they cant hide out.
Do you have caves or thick plants for him to hideout sometimes?
IMO medicines are a waste of money unless you know exactly what your treating it for. Do extra water changes.
My Birchirs Love Rosy Reds and wont eat goldfish .
He might take frozen bloodworms too.

also they can go quite a while without eating.

Well, I just re-read your original post, and realized you've only had him 6 days.

Because your tank has too many fish, and is too small for all those, your poly is probably freaking out and can't get comfortable with all of these active fish darting around him.

Throw feeders in there and I imagine all your other fish go into a frenzy, further stressing the poly rather than enticing him to feed.

It's about treating columnaris, which sounds close to what your fish is afflicted with (white necross lesion surrounded by red streaks).
