Hey all,
My grandmother has a pond she is letting me use to put my channel catfish in. It is 14 feet long, 6 feet wide(at widest) and 2 feet deep(at deepest), it's shaped like a boomerang. Any ideas for a filter? The only requirements I have are,
1: needs to not use do much energy
2: simple
3: somewhat discreet. She loves her garden and I don't think she's like a filter ganging around her pond. Any ideas on how to hide it?

Look in the pond section or google a DIY filter. I know a lot of people use a 5 gallon bucket to make one. Normally Id suggest a 55gallon drum sand gravel filter but because it can't be large maybe find something in between. I'm a firm believer of over filtration and I know with a pond you'll want the water crystal clear. Hope this helps

Usually those filters don't have the power to filter anything over 1,000 gallons. I've looked into them and apparently they're a waste of money. I'd ask around in the pond section and get a few more opinions. The DIY is way cheaper and works better.

I'm not 100% sure what it is or how it works. But are you positive that will be enough for a 1400 gal pond with a channel catfish.

These are powered sponge filters designed for ponds. They sit "in" the pond, so, nothing unsightly or out of place outside of your pond. They won't do anything, however, to help with algae. They are cheap and efficient, however, and miraculously enough, will provide more biological filtration than many other types of filtration (including many canister filters).

I just looked them up on the website and they're way too under powered for what you need. I mean you can get one and prove me wrong and have it work but like I said they're rates for like 300 gallon ponds not 1,000 gallon plus ponds

Which ones are you talking about. The types I posted a link for? Or the sponge kind?
