New Pond/Outdoor Tank

why is that? it is under a shelter i figured that would help keep the algea growth down because it is not exposed to constant direct sunlight
 
If it is under a shelter, lightly stocked, and you don't over feed there should be no reason for an algae outbreak. The lillies should be fine in the sand, unless the fish dig around them. If that happens, you can just add some washed gravel around the base to discourage an other digging.
 
ok cool thats what i was thinking. right now the cycle goldfish are reeking havoc on all the plants but the lilly pads but i took time and planted all of them pretty secure so thats probably why. but i plan on taking hte goldfish out in about 2 weeks and i dont think any of my tropical fish will be big enough to uproot the plants and if they do it will only be one or two occasionaly.
