Sweet, can't wait to see some pics. What are you planning on using for filtration and heating? I am thinking about building a pond in the very near future, much smaller than yours however, and am curious how everybody heats and filters their large ponds.

That's going to be on serious pond. What exactly do you plan on keeping in it? Is it an outdoor or indoor pond? Will it require additional heating? How much does filtration for a pond that size run?

This is my 3rd pond I have built over the years. I will probably use dual in line pumps in the range of 5,000 gph each. Filtration used will 1 55 gallon drum fitted with an uplift vortex chamber followed by another drum full of biological media. The filtered water then runs down thru a waterfall and back into the pond. I used this system in my old 5000 gallon pond with great results. I will also run a 40 watt uv. Everything is fitted with clean out valves for easy maintanace. I will stock it with natives (bass, catfish, gar, ect.) I live in southern cal so temps arent to extreme. I used to put my pacu, dovii, oscars in my old pond from late may thru late september into my pond. They loved the space.

I'm in Socal as well and have a 2600g pond which I plan to keep my tems and aros with a few catfish in. I'm going to heat it with 5 300 watt titanium heaters and insualting the top.

The pond is made of concrete btw. I can't wait to move so I can make an even bigger pond. What I would do is dig it out to be about 10,000 gallons or more and then placing insualtor around it. Then placing the liner over that and then fill it and heat it with a few thousand watts of heat.

Btw how is your Dorados behavior to its tankmates?
