gunna get rid of my firemouths and stick with convicts anyways,

well i have one pair in a 20 long with 2 day old wigglers with 2 pictus and 2 loaches of some type ( my friends fish im goin to give them back soon ) anyways i have a 4.5-5 inch male pink con and a small black con in a 29 ( no eggs from them yet but soon hoply ) well when i get eggs from them im goin t breed one set of con frys ( smaller set frm the 20 long ) to the other pair ( bigger pair in the 29 ) and see if i can get marbles since both pairs are either black male and pink female or pink male and black female ( both black cons are siblings i got from my old pair )

so heres a Qs,

would this help me to produce marble cons if i spawn there frys when they get older?
 
No, you will either get batches that are all striped OR batches that are about 1/2 striped and 1/2 'pink'. All depends on whether the striped con is a carrier of the 'pink' gene or not.

The chance that you will produce some marbled by crossing striped with 'pink' is very, very slim. The way to get marbled is to buy them from the pet shop, when they become available.
 
well then ill work on my black female and her red tail. im goin to try to produce flame tail convicts ( if theres even a such thing as that word ) my female blk cons mom carried the genes so im goin to try to produce more red tail cons ( seems as the females only get it and the males wil lhave a black tail )
 
Not to be an *******, but nobody cares about hybrid convicts....doubt you will get any serious answers. Theres basic cons, pink cons, marble cons.

i have noticed lately that people are being quite rude, when this is suppose to be a friendly forum thats suppose to help people with fish.
 
cichlidian..... ive been here for quite a few years ( as of this month goin on 4 years ) and you wouldnt believe how many ppl keep convicts... so not to be rude, but your wrong. and no the convicts i have and convicts in general are NOT hybreds........ get your facts straight before going and accusing of somone having hybreds ( i dont even support hybreds much )

you were talking about trying to breed convicts to have a "flame tail"....i could be wrong but thats not a common type of convict if it is indeed at all a variation. thus making what you're trying to do be breeding hybrids.

Sorry if I read wrong.

And Loves Severums: it's a public forum. criticism comes in both negative/positive forms. i don't know how many times someones negative criticism affected me in a positive manner.

I'm not a pro at keeping fish but I will speak my mind when I read something borderline retarded.

I'm not one of those guys who always says: "nice tank" "I really like your setup" and so forth. this forum is littered with meaningless praise towards some of the most ridiculous tanks/keepers/setups and i don't get it.
