new project starting in 2 weeks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats what i am using garf diy. dimensions are 60x30x30 but on the left of the tank will be covered 9 3/4 inches (6 inch baffle for overflow with bioballs) so the viewing window will only be 47 3/4 wide and 24 tall (leaving 3 inches of overlap on glass/acrylic) i read that 1 inch overlap is fine but i'd rather be safe than sorry, and seeing as this will be a breeding tank i want a decent depth of sand for the festae to dig pits for babies. anyways thanks for the reply, how about pre drilling holes for screws? i've seen it done in one project but i dont want to decrease the integrity of the walls. just sanding and filling holes in the outside layer of plywood for now :) something to keep me busy on my week off

Just so you know, tank building has come a long way since garf published that article. They are based here where I live, great people but the info is out of date. You are better off finding some of the more detailed builds here to base your build off of. As for pre-drilling, absolutely. You don't want a split or blow out.
